Jeanette Middlestead-Spagnuolo, Director of Softball/Pitching/Hitting

Jeanette is a 2006 graduate of Lock Haven University where she won a National Championship, Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, and PSAC Conference Championship.  During her career she posted a 1.08 ERA with a record of 28-6.  She threw 12 Shutouts and 4 No-Hitters, she was chosen as PSAC West Pitcher of the Week 3 times in her career.  Before playing at Lock Haven University, Jeanette played two years at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pa.  She hit 3 home runs including a Grand-Slam against Penn University.  During her collegiate career Jeanette played for the Allentown Patriot’s Women’s Majors team, where she got the opportunity to pitch against the Greece National Team and The Brackettes.  She is a graduate of Coatesville High School, where she was a 3 time All-Chest Mont Conference selection.  She was also named inter-squad 2002 Defensive player of the year.  After Graduation Jeanette traveled to Vienna, Austria to coach and play for the Vienna Mosquitoes.  She is currently coaching her 6th season under Renee Clarke at Swarthmore College.

Jamie Pena, Hitting, Catching, Pitching

Jamie’s softball experience began as a four year letter winner at Sun Valley High School. She continued her softball career at West Chester University, where she was a catcher and utility player. She began her coaching career at Swarthmore College as the assistant coach to Softball Olympic Gold Medalist Renee Clarke. From there she continued to coach at Cabrini College and West Chester University. During the two years at West Chester University, Jamie worked closely with the pitchers, catchers, and outfielders in the program. Her experience as a softball clinician has enabled her to teach all aspects of the game. Jamie was the head softball instructor at Grand Slam for five years, before joining the Maple Zone team.  Jamie is currently a teacher at Ridley High School.

Diana Frosch, Hitting and Fielding

Diana is a graduate of Interboro High School in 2001. She was a four year varsity starter as an outfielder, catcher, and third baseman. She continued her career at Division III, Cabrini College, where she was a two sport collegiate athlete.  In softball, she started out as an outfielder and finished her career at third base. At Cabrini, Diana helped lead her team to three PAC (which is now called the Colonial States Athletic Conference) division titles. Her team participated in three Division III NCAA tournament appearances. In 2003, Diana was named to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional All-Tournament Team for third base.  Going into her senior year in 2005, Diana was named First Team All PAC at Third Base. She was later named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Regional All-Star Team.  She was also a four year starter for Cabrini College Women’s soccer team. They made one NCAA Regional appearance in 2003. Diana graduated Cabrini College with a Bachelors of Science in Education.

Diana has coached softball for 4 years at Conestoga High School. In 2008, she became the Assistant Varsity Coach.  Diana is currently coaching travel soccer in Tredyffrin Easttown and teaching in the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Schools as a Technology and Physical Education teacher.

Nancy O’Connor
Nancy is a 2005 graduate of West Chester East High School. She was a 4 year varsity softball player.  In her junior season, East won the school’s first ever Ches-Mont championship title with a perfect 20-0 regular season.  They ended the season 3rd in the district while making the first round of the state tournament.  Nancy was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year.  In her senior season, East defended their Chest-Mont title and went on to districts.  Nancy was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year.  After graduating Nancy was inducted into WC East’s Hall of Fame and went on to play at Lock Haven University. She was a four year starter in the outfield for the Lady Eagles and won two NCAA DII National Championships (2006 & 2009), four Mid-Atlantic Regional Titles, and four PSAC Championships.   During her career at LHU, she hit 9 home runs, 7 triples, 26 doubles and racked up 59 RBI’s.  Her foot speed & ability to slap effectively helped her tally 112 singles in her career.  In the four years she was at LHU the team posted an impressive 208-23 record, with a perfect 54-0 at home.  The lady eagles outscored opponents 1,290-221. She was a two time All-PSAC Conference player and named Haven’s Most Improved Player in 2010.  She is currently assistant coaching at Rustin High School.

Megan Phillips
Megan is a 2011 graduate from Widener University, starting primarily at second base for the Pride for all four years. Serving as a team captain her senior year, she ended with a .426 batting average batting both right-handed and left-handed, an on-base percaentage of .492, 43 hits, scored 31 times and stole eight bases. She was named a First Team All-Commonwealth Conference infielder, as well as Second Team All-ECAC South Region and team MVP. Megan graduated from the Widener School of Business Administration with a degree in Sport Management and a minor in Management Information Systems. She is currently employed at Widener as the Assistant Sport Information Director while working towards her Masters of Science in Business Process Innovation, expecting to graduate in Spring of 2013. Prior to going to Widener, Megan played four years at Sun Valley High School in Aston, PA, playing second base, third base, and shortstop in various seasons; she also served as a team captain her senior year. Megan has travel experience playing with the local Delco Diamonds, playing on the original team all the way through her eligibility, and is currently serving as an assistant coach on the 18U Showcase Team.
